STONELEES JUNIOR ACADEMY
The perfect combination of fun, play and learning!.
SGC is a Golf Roots Centre …. Introducing children to the wonderful game of golf is important to us, so we have created a robust and comprehensive pathway in place to ensure that any child aged 4-16 can attend an appropriate coaching session for their age, ability and attitude towards golf. All group lessons will run during school term time with Holiday Camps organised during School Holidays. Junior Coaching sessions offered include:
Roll-up KS1 (school years R,1,2 ages 4-7) and Roll-up KS2 (school years 3,4,5,6 ages 7-11) No commitment from children, weekly fee of £7. A fun, games-based introduction to golf for boys and girls, time spent on driving range, short game area, putting green. Ideal opportunity for the child to try a new sport without any longer-term commitment. Equipment can be supplied. Juniors showing the right commitment will be encouraged to move on to the Junior Golf Passport sessions for a more structured programme of development.
Junior Golf Passport (10 week courses during term time £75)
HSBC Golf Roots is the Golf Foundation's national programme to enhance the lives of young people through playing golf. Within that, the Junior Golf Passport is the national structured learning programme for children (boys and girls) aged 6-12 years, endorsed by the PGA. The multi-layered programme progresses a complete novice golfer into a junior golfer ready for membership at a golf club.
The programme has 3 key levels: START, LEARN and PLAY. The START level is all about fun and an elementary introduction to golf. The LEARN level is a move towards technical instruction through games based learning, always with the emphasis on fun. The PLAY level teaches the child to apply their learning to the golf course, preparing them for potential club membership and competition. However, access to the golf course and playing golf on a course are important features of the Junior Golf Passport from the START in order to develop a real connection to golf.
Golf Girls (weekly session £9 to include a hot chocolate)
A weekly fun session exclusively for girls to be introduced to and learn golf. All ages and standards welcome with an emphasis on creating life-long friendships on and off the golf course.
#teengolf Development Group (KS3 and 4, school years 7,8,9,10,11 ages 12-16)
Weekly session for 12-16 yr olds. Emphasis on helping to enjoy everything golf offers without becoming too serious or technical. Plenty of time spent on the golf course or in the Golf Simulator to keep mind and body active and engaged. £10pw or £30pm.
Elite Performance Squad (2hr sessions, £15pw or £50pm)
Juniors showing the necessary attitude and ability will be invited to join the Elite Performance Squad. A weekly training session followed by time on the golf course (or simulator) will be delivered. Video analysis and launch monitor data will be regularly used along with Skills Tests and Course Management discussions. All squad members will be expected to spend plenty of time working on their games in between the sessions. Aimed at the junior who is serious about becoming the best they can be and has ambitions about becoming a Professional in the future.
All juniors in all classes will be invited to various social activities/events during the year and will be encouraged to bring a friend to these. We will look to promote via social media, so will ask you to complete a Photographic Consent Form. We will be looking to develop the children’s life skills as much as developing their golf. School Holiday Camps will be available, details will be emailed to you in advance. We are keen to promote ourselves at local School Summer Fetes or Fun Days, please let us know of any events you think may be suitable. We understand and respect the role of the parent and are more than happy to talk to you about your child’s development, behaviour, personality etc and will look to solve any issues as quickly as possible.
